TUSCOLA — Former Douglas and Champaign County resident Dave Moutray is scouting film locations in Tuscola for his upcoming feature, “Dreamwalkers.”

The township of Tuscola has given him a grant as well as access to photograph and film throughout the town.

There will be a private screening of his previous films Friday at Shatterglass Studios, a Champaign film-production company that is co-producing “Dreamwalkers.” Seats for the screening are limited. Inquiries may be made at info@cruxjinx.com.

Moutray, who moved from Champaign-Urbana to San Francisco in 2008, is an award-winning director and screenwriter in the Bay Area.

He is the director/founder of Crux Jinx Productions in San Francisco and founder of the Bay Area Film Mixer, which allows Bay Area filmmakers to network with each other.

As a filmmaker, he focuses on characters and story-driven narratives. He recently wrote, directed and acted in the feature “Losing Her,” which won several awards in 2012, among them best feature at the Los Angeles Noor Film Festival and the “Golden Ace Award” at the Las Vegas Film Festival.

His 2010 short film, “The Girl in the Grass,” received the best artistic talent award at the Silicon Valley Film Festival and was an official selection at the 2011 Epidemic Film Festival, San Francisco, and 2010 San Francisco Screen Circus.

In 2011, he wrote and directed the short “Nobody’s Laughing,” which won best screenplay at the Epidemic Film Festival and was a special selection at the Twain Harte Film Festival.

Moutray attended Arcola schools, graduating in 1994. He earned an associate degree in journalism at Parkland College, a master’s degree in English at Eastern Illinois University and a master’s of fine arts degree at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
